Okay. I've read the same reviews as you. Heard the same accolades. But I've been burned before, right? 'Oh, suchsandsuch is sooo good,' 'best in town,' 'five stars not enough.' The more you hear the more suspicious you get, frankly. And I was plenty suspicious enough. Still, I was hungry and it was ages since I'd had gizzards. So off I went to the rough part of town to see what they had. Oh. My. Lord. Can we talk about gizzards? Can we talk about perfect seasoning, just the right amount of batter? Can we discuss sheer tenderness, maybe diverge for a spell on the topic of flavorful sauces? Perhaps we might even drop a line or two about the importance of not mixing in a few livers by mistake, a practice I abhor. O my friends, let us rhapsodize. Seriously. These are--and I speak to you here as an old Kentucky gal--quite possibly the best gizzards I've ever had the privilege to ingest. Remarkably good. And the G-sauce? Only in Kansas City, I have to say. This is the stuff, right here. Found it. At last. On a side note, I must needs note that the staff were as friendly as could be, the service lightning quick, and prices eminently reasonable. The bread rolls were... well, no doubt the finest bread rolls ever to be rolled off a restaurant supply truck by the box load, but they're just edible sauce-sponges anyway.

The food is pretty cheap for a chicken joint The Gizards taste great The service is average at best (kind of giving some benefit of the doubt here) The reason for 1 star..... When a restaruants food makes me sick causing issues that I don't need to explain and nobody wants to think of then i just can't say much good about them. I don't care why their food made me sick.....doesn't matter which reason the food caused issues don't know if they were dirty or if the meat wasn't at temp does not matter.....all that matters is a restaurant served food that was in some way bad game over 1 star. doesn't matter that it tasted fine, just game over 1 star when it makes ya sick (of course it wouldn't make people sick everytime...obviously, but it made me sick so i can't give more than 1 star) If I didn't get sick i'd have given 4 stars

Alright... I AM from Kentucky originally. So I was stuck at the Top King facility next door getting repairs done on our lovely moonroof, and beheld the fried chicken paradise across the street! I do not care for sides and sh@t at a chicken joint... I am down only for the protein. The chicken was cooked very nicely, with a thin and well seasoned breading. The hot sauce was some crazy sriracha-meets-salsa concoction that worked! So no complaints here, folks. Kentucky approved!

I have been going to Go-Chicken-Go for years. The gizzards are the best I have ever had. The G-Sauce has some kick to it but is very good. The rolls are amazing. The chicken is good and the sides are ok. The staff is nice enough. I will continue to keep going.

How have I never given this place a shot?! I've read reviews and had friends tell me the food was yummy, but I still never would try it. Today, I decided to hit the drive thru and sample a few things. First of all, I have like 100 pounds of leftovers after spending about $11. I got a HALF order of gizzards, which I think could feed an army. I've eaten tons of gizzards in my life and have never had ones that were so tender. They were fantastic. The G-Sauce is okay, but wasn't necessarily my taste. I ended up mixing some honey that I had at home with the sauce and that was really, really yummy. I got a two piece snack, that I can't even taste because I'm too full from eating about 1/2 of the gizzards. It looks great though. For the sides, I got mashed potatoes (not too impressed) and cole slaw (I'm a cole slaw snob, so I'm really hard to please) was edible. I will go back for gizzards often. I can't believe the great prices.

This was my first time to eat at a Go Chicken Go. It's kind of secluded, but I found it one Yelp, and didn't feel like cooking that night. When I saw it, I knew it would be dinner. I had gone to a shop nearby, and I was in the area. I bought enough chicken for 4 of us. The price was in keeping with the popular national chain. I had baked beans for my side, and a bucket of chicken breasts. I'm used to chicken being swathed in breading. This was lightly coated, with slight seasoning. I'm pretty sure I like more breading on it. The breasts were uniform, but small. Almost too small. I don't have large hands, and they were about palm sized. I got 6 rolls, which were just okay. The rolls tasted like regular dinner rolls, nothing special. The baked beans rocked it. They put the A in baked beans, as in kick ass. I kind of wished I'd bought more. Heck, I would eat just the baked beans. I wish Go Chicken Go had chicken and waffles. I think the combination would be excellent.

I absolutely dislike their regular chicken items. But they have the most amazing gizzards in the world!

Like the one on 7th street better, seems to taste better to me than this one. Maybe just fresher and the 7th street is busy enough to keep freshly cooked..luv their gizzards. And jalepenos.

They are a bit slow here. But the one at 81st and State is slow too. The people are nice. The food is the typical delicious GCG. I usually do the wing pack because I'm on my way to working at the farm and I need to eat something quick but filling and the wing pack does that for me. 5 small wings sometimes 6, a biscuit and a large tea. That hits the spot. I'll always love GCG.

There must be an addictive agent in the G-sauce, 'cause I buy the bottles in bulk and put it on 90% of any other meal I eat. The gizzards are not far from the same problem. They gotta be the best gizzards I've ever had, and keep having. My truck has an auto-pilot problem with this location, so be warned, you may need to seek help with your Go-Chicken-Go cravings if you try this G-sauce/gizzard combo. Its dangerous ...but sooo good.

I got to say that I love the fried chicken here. It's tasty just on its own but I like it even more with some of the G-Sauce that they sell (just go ahead and buy the whole bottle, $3.49). The G-Sauce is their version of a hot sauce flavored with jalapeños and well, ketchup. We usually order a 15 piece order for a family meal and also get a full order of fried livers (you can also get gizzards or ask for a mix of the two). The chicken here is a little more expensive but I don't mind since it's tastier than any other fast food chicken chain including the one a couple blocks away that also sells those tacos made with a caulking gun. Some of the sides are good like the potato salad and coleslaw. I have only been to this location so I don't know if any of the other ones are better or worse. Some of cons about this place are the generic commercial rolls smothered with a questionable butterlike substance. Something baked fresh like biscuits I think would be better. Also, I'm not a fan of the very thin yellow/orangelike gravy. Give me a thick brown gravy (ok Colonel, you might have a leg up here) over this sad excuse for gravy any day. Also, when you get a large family order, for some reason you get a lot of drumsticks like about a third of the pieces. A little more chicken part parity please.

There are times in a persons life when you just really have a hankering for fried chicken. When that time comes I head to this place every time not to the fried chicken giant known as KFC. I don't want some pretentious restaurant either. I just want some fried chicken, mashed potatoes and instant chicken gravy and semi questionable surroundings. Go Chicken Go definitely delivers on that. I am personally not a fan of livers and gizzards but everyone in my family loves them. I generally go for either a breast or leg. The G-Sauce to dip your chicken in is awesome. The only way I could describe it is like a sweet and savory salsa. A little weird but it works. The rolls are nothing special but decent. I'm pretty certain they are just Sarah Lee white dinner rolls. The food always hits the spot and is definitely worth trying out.

Four star drive through chicken baby! Gizzards and livers are killer when fresh and hot. They are tender and fried just right. The G-Sauce adds just the right kick needed to send your pallet into a chicken frenzy! Mashed potatoes? Meh. Slaw? Meh? Still four stars? You're damn right! Because the chicken is that good baby!! Don't get me wrong, the sides are cool. But just cool. The chicken is were its at! pro tip: grab your chicken and head to the blvd drive in!

Bottom Line Up Front: Only place in KCMO that has fried gizzards and livers (this chain). Tastes decent, worth trying. Quick service. Shady area. Do not go late at night. Carry a gun or a weapon maybe? Just Saying, haha. It had been awhile since I've had fried gizzards so I decided to pick some up. I tried them before at a different Go-Chicken-Go (G-C-G) and they were decent so I gave it another try. The area for this location seemed really sketchy. I would never go here at night unless I had my gun on me - i'll leave it at that. Went through the drive thru so I cannot say how the inside looks, can't be anything special though I assume. The gizzards and livers came out quick and I quickly saw why. They were not fresh at all, barely even warm. But, they still had a crunch to them which made it a bit better. The gizzards were chewy and tasted great, so were the livers. Their g-sauce goes very well with the gizzards/livers to my surprise. I also ordered the gravy which was very disappointing. I was expecting a thicker/creamier gravy instead I got a water down cup that looked like oil mixed with ground pepper. All in all, I would still come back to G-C-G to get gizzards/livers if I was craving them enough considering the price and ease of finding. If these were fresh out of the fryer, they would have been awesome. The seasoning and batter they use is pretty good. I am use to getting gizzards from Bush's chicken in Texas (which are amazing). But, I have to make due with whats available and G-C-G is good enough in my book. If you're a fan of chicken livers and gizzards, go to your nearest G-C-G and try it out. I recommend going during daylight hours if you are unsure of the location. Maybe have another person with you and don't make eye contact with other patrons... just saying. Enjoy.

I was highly impressed with my two visits to this location while in KC. Being a native Kansas Citian, I have indulged in all locations in the metro and also had several debates with friends and family regarding which location does it best. Well, in all of those debates, I never agreed with anyone that this location does it best. I was pleasantly surprised with the customer service at this location as well as the food. It was all a great experience and I think this location is in the running for being the best in the metro when it comes to Go Chicken Go. Wish we had one in Dallas!

It's fast food chicken. It's way better than KFC. I go for the chicken breast sandwich with lettuce and mayo. It's perfect for lunch and I mainly hit the drive thru. I don't care for the Go Go sauce, it's really just salsa. Stick with the chicken sandwich and you will be fine.

After leaving the one on 7th Street behind because I forgot they don't have any seating we headed to the closest one. The girls at the counter were quite friendly but the chicken had been waiting for what tasted like hours, if not since the day before. It just tasted old. The rolls were stale tasting. The gravy was a nuclear orange color with too much pepper in it (and I like pepper). One saving grace was the Chicken Livers. They were moist and much better tasting than the chicken. I have eaten at the one on 7th Street and lots of times at the Olathe location. Don't know what's wrong with this one, but I won't be back.
